Camel Treks in the Sahara Desert

Start from M'Hamid around 14h to the Erg Bertam dunes with a camel per person, a guide and cameleer. Riding or walking with the caravan takes 3 hours to arrive at the camp, where tea, sunset, evening music and dinner awaits. Spend the night in the tent in the nomadic comfort, breakfast in the morning and afterward a trip back to M'Hamid with the camels, taking a different route to change the landscape.

We start from M'Hamid at 9 in the morning, together with the camels, your guide and your cameleer. The first lunch break is done in the shade of the great Palmeraie oasis. After the meal, you walk again for about two hours to reach Elbour, where assemble the camp, and admire the palm trees and the magnificent sunset.

After breakfast, leave the camp with the camels for a new day of walking. Picnic in Oued Naam and arrive in the evening to camp among the dunes of Erg Bertam.

Walk for about two hours, have lunch near the small dunes of Mézouaria, and return peacefully to M'Hamid in the afternoon for a shower and rest.

Departure around 9:00 am from the village of M'Hamid. Walk for 4–5 hours through landscapes of dunes and plateaus, crossing the Drâa Valley. Night in a nomadic bivouac under the stars.

Depart from the Riad in M'Hamid at 8 in the morning to the palm trees for lunch and rest, then continue to Sidi Naji to set up camp and enjoy tea, dinner and a night under the stars.

Dismantle camp, walk 2.5h then picnic under tamarisk trees. Reach the Reg crossing to the dunes of Ezahar to assemble camp and stay overnight.

Walk toward the Valley of Drâa, visit the silted and abandoned Erg Smar village, picnic, then walk to the small Kriaat-Gemal dunes and set up camp for the night.

Hike to Lebohr (2–2.5h), lunch and rest, then continue to Bertam dune to set up camp for the night.

Walk to Mzouaria for lunch and rest, then return to the Riad in M'Hamid for a shower, dinner and a restful night.

Leave M'Hamid through the palm grove, gently stepping from village life into open desert. The silence grows with every step. After about 4–5 hours of walking, reach the dunes of Sidi Naji. Camp settles, tea warms on the fire, and end the day with a simple moment of quiet meditation.

Walk deeper into the Sahara, following the soft rhythm of the caravan. Your destination is Erg Zahar, famous for the low vibration the dunes make when the wind moves the sand — the 'song' of the desert. This is one of Aziz's childhood places, where his family used to rest during long migrations. Camp at the foot of the dunes, with space for a sunset meditation.

This day leads you through quiet, untouched dunes where few travelers pass. The walk becomes simple and present: one step, one breath. Arrival at Erg Sedra, a calm place perfect for stargazing and reflection.

The landscape opens and the dunes rise higher as you move toward Erg Chigaga. The silence becomes deep and grounding. Aziz often says that crossing these dunes as a teenager taught him patience and respect for nature. Night camp at the foot of Chigaga, ideal for a peaceful star meditation.

Continue toward the dry riverbed of Oued Laatach and the tamarisk area of Kreeat Jmal. By now the rhythm of walking feels natural and light. A beautiful day for silent walking or simple breathwork. Camp among tamarisk trees.

A final 4-hour walk brings you slowly back toward M'Hamid. When the first palm trees appear, you feel the circle closing. Lunch in the shade, then return to the village — carrying a quieter, clearer energy inside.
