We travel along the road that connects Marrakech, the pearl of the South in the High Atlas Mountains, to Ouarzazate, the tourist capital of Morocco’s southernmost province. Following the chain of the Anti-Atlas, we reach the spectacular canyon of the Draa Valley, where the dry riverbed marks the threshold of the world’s greatest desert — the Sahara. During our trips, we take gentle walks through the palm groves, pausing to admire the hundreds of ancient kasbahs scattered across the landscape. On one of our visits, a local farmer welcomed us with freshly picked dates—sweet, warm, and full of desert sun. After a short chat about his farm and life in the valley, he smiled and said:

“One hand cannot clap — إيد وحدة ما تصفّق.”

A simple saying, reminding us of the importance of unity, cooperation, and working together—whether within a family, a village, or a nomadic caravan. As he explained, his own farm thrives thanks to the help of his family.
